Re: Time for magic: abstract visuals
Sun, September 23, 2007 - 6:40 AMhow cool, Yair.
we have a lot in common. I started doing lo fi toy video and toy webcam 'animations' to my own abstract electronica tunes
about a year ago and though different from your stuff, I'm also using abstract images (frequently but not always from nature)
to 'animate' the tracks.
You should come join my Toy Video tribe here at tribe. Also, later on, I"ll subscribe to your videos at youtube.
my stuff is here at
www.youtube.com/looppool
thanks a lot for sharing..........it's really very beautiful stuff.
yours, Rick Walker aka loop.pool aka purple hand
ps tomorrow I'm driving to Macy's to make a video of the reflection of their lights on their impossibly shiny , mirror-like
floor tiles. My wife and I were tripping out theh other day looking at the reflections. I'll probably make the video and then
orchestrate music to it for a change. -

Re: Time for magic: abstract visuals
Mon, September 24, 2007 - 12:57 AMI'm in the thick of preparing for the Y2K7 International LIve Looping festival where I'll be bringing 55-60 artists from
10 different countries so I'm not going to have a lot of time in the next few weeks but I'll start to watch them
(I've already seen all of them once) to make comments as I get more time.
Beautiful stuff.
It seems like such a no-brainer to me: abstract electronica and abstract video accompaniement. Who else is
doing this kind of work, I wonder. -

Re: Time for magic: abstract visuals
Mon, September 24, 2007 - 9:41 AMYes abstract visuals do fit perfectly with electronic music. In principle that's what VJs are creating in parties however mostly not so sophisticated or meaningful, usually using starndard tools and tricks, there are some really good VJ work though. I definitely have not seen a lot done in this specific style, I've recently tried to mix the visuals with some VJ visuals at a party and I think the result was really cool.

Wed, September 26, 2007 - 11:36 PMYou've got some really interesting visuals on your tube page.
Some nature abstractions I put to a beatless music composition.

:)
Tue, October 2, 2007 - 11:34 PMThe music was done separately and one afternoon I shot some video out on the coast. It seemed like good music to edit the video to, and it worked. Very last we built a set in my garage with black curtains and willow branches from the tree I had to remove from the back yard. We shot some fake playing with our instruments and I blended it into the edit along with some old school liquid oil projections. Overhead projection stuff.
glad you liked it.
